[opensuse-factory] Tumbleweed - Review of the Week (2015/23)
Dear Tumbleweed users and hackers,
Time is flying fast it seems - and already another week is behind us,
with some interesting developments in Tumbleweed.
During the last week, your Tumbleweed systems received, amongst many
others, the following updates:
* KDE Plasma 5.3.1; bugfix release
* The various issues around KRB5 updates have been resolved (sorry for
those)
* The kernel received a small amount of backport fixes
* libqt4 was updated to 4.8.7 (unfortunately causing some issues, as a
dependency was missed in the progress... surprisingly, our repo-checker
script missed this one, analysis is going on)
* The call for help to keep on maintaining the KDE3 packages seems to
have worked: some packages have been submitted and some even received
additional attention beyond fixing build, backporting security fixes.
Some failures are still there, but David promised to have a look at
those in the coming period.
What's coming next?
* KDE Applications are being updated to 15.04.2
* Firefox 38.0.5: sounds like a minor update, but Reader View and
'Pocket' have been greatly integrated (and caused us quite some work on
openQA :))
* GCC 5: still work in progress - We got a few fixes together in the
last week again.
How can you help:
* Keep on doing what you have been doing: spread the word about
openSUSE Tumbleweed, run it, report issues, help fix them, test them,
and the spread the word again.
* Engage in the various discussions happening on the mailing list
* There is always a good amount of bug reports reported against
openSUSE Tumbleweed, that are 'outdated' (a small issue of the rolling
nature). Sometimes it's just enough to retest if a bug might have
disappeared - and if so, it can be closed.
With this all said, I wish you all a happy weekend

Ouch! I am the one to blame here. Do you know what was the request #? Thanks. -- SUSE Linux GmbH, GF: Felix Imendörffer, Jane Smithard, Jennifer Guild, Dilip Upmanyu, Graham Norton, HRB 21284 (AG Nürnberg) Maxfeldstraße 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany

Alberto, libqt4 was submitted as https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/309693 The issue was that libqt4-devel-doc (a 2nd spec file) has a build dependency on libQtWebKit4 >= %{version} (version being 4.8.7 now) but we only have 4.8.6 in Factory. So it happened that repo-checker waved it through, even though this could not be built in openSUSE:Factory in the end. If we can find what went wrong here, that would be great. (I've seen a couple other packages that seem to have passed despite missing build deps... another sample is docker, which has missing build deps at the moment) Cheers, Dominique -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

repo-checker checks the consistency of the repo by looking at the binary rpms. It does not verify build dependencies. Ie it can't catch incomplete submissions from the devel project if the incomplete submission does not result in broken dependencies on the binary rpms. cu Ludwig -- (o_ Ludwig Nussel //\ V_/_ http://www.suse.de/ SUSE Linux GmbH, GF: Felix Imendörffer, Jane Smithard, Dilip Upmanyu, Graham Norton, HRB 21284 (AG Nürnberg) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Which is fine - but in this case it should have caught it: libqt4-devel
-docs had a Requires on libQtWebKit4 = %{version} which was not
satisfied post checkin...

There are still 2 build failures, packages rekall and amarok. Rekall fails in the documentation (invalid or unknown formatting sequences) and amarok .desktop file installation fails because there are multiple .desktop files found. I'll continue to sort through the remaining issues, please give me some more time.
