I'm not aware that we support booting via EFI from (floppy) disks. Or do you mean something else?
Also the Support README in Novell forum is not working, on the DVD is no EFI boot option ?
Not sure what you mean. The DVD will boot via EFI on EFI systems and via legacy BIOS otherwise. Systems with both EFI & legacy BIOS _might_ (but don't need to) present you a dialog to select. So you are saying that if the user can disable their bios's legacy boot support, then SUSE will boot using EFI. Cool...Will have to try it! :-) Can't install right now, but I can at least try it (I think). What's the advantage (or disadvantage) of going with EFI boot or is that way beyond your 'need to know'/ 'desire to express'....:-) ? -l -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

You normally don't have to actually disable it but set the boot priority to try efi first. But basically, yes.

Wouldn't that depend on one's bios? In my Dell I can choose for EFI boot or legacy. When I choose EFI, the suse 11.2 DVD doesn't boot. Is it supposed to? -l -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

I wouldn't expect to boot EFI if I didn't have any HDs with EFI compatible partitioning. Does yours? -- "Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. Ok, the situation is a bit more confusing than I thought. :-( The theory is that since oS 11.1 all x64-64 boot media should also be EFI bootable. I've looked into it and what we really have is: - oS 11.1 x86-64 4GB-DVD & NET-ISO work - oS 11.2 media do have an EFI boot image (/boot/x86_64/efi) but don't work due to a KIWI bug (that got fixed yesterday, AFAIK) - oS 11.3 previews: not yet but should start to work once the new KIWI is used Steffen -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

I have always the Error:
OK, I found my Problem :-( I have a to old Bios, only EFI IA32, also no x86_64 install is possible :-(. the other Problem on my site the DVD Player. I installed a SATA DVD Player and EFI don't find the correct driver, after a change to a PATA DVD Player it works ;). But I have to stop my experiment, I like x86_64 ;). -- mit freundlichen Grüßen / best Regards, Günther J. That should really be reported to the ide/sata mailing list as a regression. linux-ide@vger.kernel.org You don't have to subscribe to post. Even if you don't have time to help debug it, they need to know about any issues of this type. They are trying to get everything in drivers/ide to also work in libata.
