Different files, but the same error. It is actually changing from boot to boot. The problem is only on laptop that is x86_64 (AMD Athlon). I see them just because system is not able to boot direct in GUI, so I set it to boot in runlevel 3, then login as root and then init 5, or if logged as user plain old startx will boot to GUI. -- Regards, Rajko OpenSUSE Wiki Team: http://en.opensuse.org/Wiki_Team People of openSUSE: http://en.opensuse.org/People_of_openSUSE/About -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Report it please. It is too late today and I can forget it, as I already did. -- Regards, Rajko OpenSUSE Wiki Team: http://en.opensuse.org/Wiki_Team People of openSUSE: http://en.opensuse.org/People_of_openSUSE/About -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Ah that is exactly the same as i get if i boot into runlevel 3 then init 5 the GUI works but if i try to boot straight into runlevel 5 it just locks up solid and needs a hard reset . I have not tried the startx method . I did zypper dup last night but it has not changed anything when logging in runlevel 3 i see the not a regular file report just after i log in at the prompt ".// not a regular file" same machine architecture x86_64 AMD Turion Please note NOT REFERING to the machine that sent this mail . I think it's coming from preload, it tries to stat everything under the sun If you boot with the kernel parameter "nopreload" you won't see the messages (at least I don't on my machine) - but the messages are harmless, so leaving things as they are won't hurt you. They only appear on boot when preload runs, not later. Someone should probably add a > /dev/null to the boot.startpreload script though Anders -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

With 'nopreload' laptop starts without problems, so messages are harmless, but something else is not.

Somewhere, as it is only few files that show up. Not always the all of them, but it is the same group around SuSEfirewall, some files in /var/run/, then /root/ , // . -- Regards, Rajko OpenSUSE Wiki Team: http://en.opensuse.org/Wiki_Team People of openSUSE: http://en.opensuse.org/People_of_openSUSE/About -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

It is difficult for users to know if the particular solution to a bugzilla has made up to the update servers :-} -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R.
