[opensuse-factory] KMail: broken Umlauts
Hi, since some days (at least since release 5.13.1, see https://bugs.kde.org/ show_bug.cgi?id=416758 ) I notice broken Umlauts in Emails. Mostly these mails are not UTF-8: ------=_NextPart_000_014F_01D5D2D4.EC19EF40 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable This did not change with the latest update (5.13.2) as of todays update. Can anyone confirm this issue? Thanks Axel -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

I saw something recently lately but I blamed a crash of my akonadi database. No problem when sending a test email to myself with kmail 5.13.1 (19.12.1). Also no problem when explicitly selecting iso-8859-1 encoding ? which by the way is a rather old encoding, probably UTF-8 should be used but iso-8859-15 is at least including ? :) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Well, it does not help if I switch the display format to ISO8859-1, if this is what you mean. And unfortunately I cant force others to use UTF-8.... Can you maybe confirm your experience on the KDE bug? Maybe that forces someone to look into it.... Maybe it would help more if someone would actually attach an affected EMail to the bug report (instead of adding some metoo's without further information). I have send an example to Laurent. He could already verify the issue Schöne Grüße Axel -- Written from cell phone - excuses for typos Am 14. Februar 2020 19:51:33 MEZ schrieb Wolfgang Bauer <wbauer@tmo.at>:

But it might still be a good idea to attach a "public" version to the bug report, I think. Just in case that Laurent doesn't have time, and/or other people may want to try to fix it... ;-) Kind Regards, Wolfgang -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

@Axel: Thank you very much for the bug report, this is an annoying one! Bug report changed to »FIXED« some days ago, but Fix will ship with version "FIXED-IN: 5.14.0". 5.14 of what? And besides this, any ideas when the fix will be shipped to TW? Have a nice weekend, A.W. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
Hallo Alexander, Sorry for top posting. This should be KDE Applications 5.14 (currently i think its 5.13.2). Usually in TW short after release. Schöne Grüße Axel -- Written from cell phone - excuses for typos Am 6. März 2020 20:36:58 MEZ schrieb AW <alexander.willand@t-online.de>:

5.14.0 is the version of the KDEPIM/Kontact application suite. Expected upstream release date is 2020-04-23. Tumbleweed usually gets updated within a few days after the upstream release. KDEPIM version Release Service (tri-annual, with monthly patch updates) 5.13.2 19.12.2 in 2020-02 5.13.3 19.12.3 in 2020-03 5.14.0 20.04.0 in 2020-04 5.14.1 20.04.1 in 2020-05 etc. See also https://community.kde.org/Schedules -- Christoph Feck KDE Release Team -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

There still are html-e-mails with multiple encoding errors after upgrading. I'm not sure how the bugzilla works, but I added a comment with some examples here: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=416758#c6 Or should I open a new bugreport? However, my comment:

Not fixed as of May 02nd!
Forwarded html-messages in _some_ cases still can't display umlaute in the forwarded text. From an HTML-E-Mail forwarded to me:
== == == == == ==
== == == == == ==
And -- very strange -- the warning message in German, that external references not have been loaded is in _some_ cases as well »infected«:
== == == == == == Hinweis: Diese Nachricht im HTML-Format knnte externe Referenzen auf z. B. Bilder enthalten. Aus Sicherheitsgrnden werden externe Referenzen nicht geladen. Falls der Absender vertrauenswrdig ist, aktivieren Sie externe Referenzen, indem Sie hier klicken. == == == == == ==
So the bug is still alive.

No, Laurent answered already (and asks for a test case in mbox format) Cheers Axel -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

1. Only some html-emails 2. from, as far as I can see, Outlook 3. and ä ö ü ß are displayed as ä ö ü ß . An Ü is displayed as Ãœ., I can't find an Ö and an Ä right now. *If you answer* the emails, the letters are encoded correctly in the editor window of kmail! It does not help to change the encoding in the kmail options. I _guess_ that there is an encoding error on the outlook side, but until recently kmail was able to deal with it.
