[opensuse-factory] a broken system (snapshot 20150309 update?)

After zypper dup of the yesterdays snapshot my tumbleweed system is totally down. Do not know what finally caused the messed up system because apart from the update, a bad internet connection and a blackout, (too long for my UPS - which does not handle a soft landing any more) my system only gives three blinking green squares and stops with a dark screen with a blinking cursor. Two questions. How could I get into the system and second if that is not successful how could I reinstall my system into the yesterdays state? -- Linux User 183145 using KDE4 and LXDE on a Pentium IV , powered by openSUSE 20150227 (i586) Kernel: 3.19.0-2-default KDE Development Platform: 4.14.5 23:27pm up 3:34, 3 users, load average: 2.42, 1.66, 1.30 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

There had been a warning to use zypper dup in genral and in particular for the last snapshot. http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-factory/2015-03/msg00135.html for the snapshot.

Press 'Ecs' to get the console output.

The root fs is on btrfs and you have snapshots enabled? Then reverting to a previous snapshot might help. Cheers, Lars -- Lars Müller [ˈlaː(r)z ˈmʏlɐ] Samba Team + SUSE Labs SUSE Linux, Maxfeldstraße 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany

Hi, I have the same issue, the console shows something like 'Waiting for /sysroot' and keeps on waiting forever. I still had the previous kernel installed as well and that boots without problem. x86_64 bit system with btrfs root fs Kind regards, Erwin On Thu, Mar 12, 2015 at 6:09 PM, Lars Müller <lmuelle@suse.com> wrote:
