[opensuse-factory] Status openSUSE distribution
Hi everyone, quick update on the openSUSE distribution and Beta3 plans for this week: After the power outage last Friday, we have been unable to check in packages and rebuilt the distribution over the weekend. A complete rebuilt has been triggered Monday in the afternoon. Now we are waiting for the distribution to rebuilt (which will likely take until tomorrow). As soon as the distribution is ready, we'll create a testbuild. Depending on the quality, we might be able to release Beta3 on Friday -- if we need more fixes / rebuilds, Beta3 could come as late as Monday next week. Best, Christoph -- Christoph Thiel, Tech. No way it will be on friday. We had a first build this morning and we just checked in 20+ packages to fix the most severe problems. If we're lucky, we can release on monday. We will discuss this next week. We hope it won't push the release since we would love to release before christmas. WRT the power outage that caused the delay, I thought naturally you'd have UPS backup for your systems - unless the UPS's ran out of juice during a prolonged outage. When I was away some weeks ago we had a power outage and my UPS kept the 3 vital systems up, the UPS for the other 2 systems is only down because it has a very noisy fan I need to replace. The call I got from my daughter using skype from this box was to find out how to reset the burglar alarm. Regards Sid. -- Sid Boyce ... The metadata under http://download.opensuse.org/factory/repo/oss/suse/setup/descr/ is not up to data yet, therefore zypper does accept it. Hopefully we have something to update in a few hours. Yeah. I've acquired several macs recently and when I find time to set them up, I will be putting factory on at least 1 of them. Still debating a G4/1Ghz for my PowerMac 9600.
