[opensuse-factory] Upgrading virt-manager to version 1.1.0: Lots of patches failing to apply...
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi everyone, is there any particular reason (apart from lack of time, obviously), why virt-manager is still at version 1.0.1, while upstream is at 1.1.0? I tried to get a working package in my home:-project (https://build.opensuse.org/project/show/home:ojkastl_buildservice:Virt-Manag...), but I had to disable all but one of the many (200?) patches, because otherwise the build failed due to patches being not applicable. The packages builds, can be installed, and virt-manager launches. But I'm not sure what the package is missing. Or doing wrong. Are these patches included upstream? Who knows what these patches do? If it was just one or two, I'd try to figure it out myself, but the spec contains Patch1 to Patch167... Regards, Johannes - -- Wise men don't need advice. Fools don't take it. I don't know the virt-manager patch policy. But for openSUSE we have one which requires (for new) patches a clear change log hunk in the <package_name>.changes file. For Samba we also ensure to have in each patch a header with author, subject, bugzilla, and other lines.
Are these patches included upstream? Who knows what these patches do? If it was just one or two, I'd try to figure it out myself, but the spec contains Patch1 to Patch167...
Nice. :/ As you didn't got any further reply here I would contact the openSUSE:Factory virt-manager bugowner via bugzilla and report the bug URL back to this thread. In the bug report I would reference to this thread in the list archive too. osc maintainer -e openSUSE:Factory virt-manager gives you the required email address to bypass the bug screaning team. Good luck! Cheers, Lars -- Lars Müller [ˈlaː(r)z ˈmʏlɐ] Samba Team + SUSE Labs SUSE Linux, Maxfeldstraße 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany

Fortunately, Charles replied in the meantime. And he knows what these patches are, so I do not need to dig further...
