Hi, I just verified and on my system alsamixer is functional, despite I had some sound issues as soon I've upgraded. I also had an issue getting sound to work after the recent upgrade. However, restarting my machine seemed to solve the issue. On Wed, Nov 28, 2018 at 1:43 PM Marco Calistri <PY1ZRJ@outlook.com> wrote:

Packages changed: alsa alsa-plugins
Since last update I have no sound anymore and alsamixer does not start:
$ alsamixer ALSA lib conf.c:3943:(snd_config_update_r) Cannot access file /etc/alsa-pulse.conf ALSA lib control.c:1375:(snd_ctl_open_noupdate) Invalid CTL default cannot open mixer: No such file or directory
I usually re-setup the sound card in YaST, if problems occur, but this didn't help this time. Sound works in Windows 10.
Anyone else experienced this bug?
Greetings, Björn
Hi, I just verified and on my system alsamixer is functional, despite I had some sound issues as soon I've upgraded.
AlsaMixer v1.1.7 ──────────────────────────────┐ │ Card: PulseAudio F1: Help │ │ Chip: PulseAudio F2: System information │ │ View: F3:[Playback] F4: Capture F5: All F6: Select sound card │ │ Item: Master Esc: Exit
In the meantime I had rebooted the machine, may be this could help you(?)

rebooting did not help. If I compare the packages I see, that /etc/alsa-pulse.conf is missing in the new package. Changelog says ==== alsa-plugins ==== Subpackages: alsa-plugins-pulse alsa-plugins-pulse-32bit - Remove the old override configs as the updated setup-pulseaudio script should handle the new configs (bsc#1116153) As a quick work-around I copied /etc/alsa-pulse.conf from the previous packages alsa-plugins-pulse-1.1.7-2.1.x86_64.rpm. The solution for me was to remove $ALSA_CONFIG_PATH from ~/.profile. I had this environment variable from https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Pulseaudio but this Wiki page is not up-to-date for Tumbleweed. Rebooting (or logout and login) was also necessary. Since you already found this - can you please update the wiki page? Please at least add a warning that setting the variable breaks sound in Tumbleweed since 2018-11-26. Okay. I updated https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Pulseaudio in two sections ("No sound in Tumbleweed after 2018-11-26" and "Using Pulseaudio as alsa back-end by default"). Please check.
