[opensuse-factory] OpenSUSE and Thunderbolt3

Hello, Dell claims that there is Thunderbolt3 support in the Ubuntu shipped on the Dell XPS13 Developer Edition. Does anyone know, how this support is realized ? And how to get Thunderbolt3 running on OpenSUSE ? Looking into 4.5 kernelsource there is drivers/thunderbolt. But this only seems to handle the "Cactus Ridge" Thunderbolt2 device. And there is no announce in the 4.6rc changelog ( https://lwn.net/Articles/681470/) that thunderbolt3 support is added. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Yet again the syndrom of OEW part activated in Ubuntu ? Perhaps you can find a bug entry in ubuntu system related to that one. They may have taken an early version of the UCSI driver. The stuff in drivers/thunderbolt is for devices without support in firmware (basically only Apple) Thunderbolt 3 requires a type C connector and you need support for switching to its alternate modes. UCSI, if ACPI in the firmware supports it, can do that.
