[opensuse-factory] NetworkManager, wicked, dnsmasq and libvirt working on the same machine
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Evening everybody, before 13.2 comes out I thought I'd ask on how to get my laptop working again. But let me start at the beginning: The laptop is running NetworkManager, as I am using it in more than one WiFi. Historically, the laptop has also been running dnsmasq to resolve some local machines. This worked very nice with NetworkManager's ability to set the local search list according to which WiFi I am in. Then I started using libvirt, which also uses dnsmasq to provide network to the guests. As there have been some conflicts, I switched to running dnsmasq via NetworkManager (dns=dnsmasq in NetworkManager.conf and a dnsmasq.conf in /etc/NetworkManager/dnsmasq.d/). But somehow, this setup got mangled up, and there is no dns server set or not the right one. There should be 127.0.0.1 first, which then uses the right 'local' forwarder, depending on the WiFi. Also, after resuming from suspend-to-whatever, sometimes the search list is right, sometimes it is incomplete, sometimes this gets changed in the first minute after waking up. Strange! I am not sure how NetworkManager, netconfig and dnsmasq should work. And I am not sure how this is going to be handled, once 13.2 is released and wicked kicks in. Any hints, suggestions, tutorials and tricks are highly welcome... ;-) Regards, Johannes - -- 'Are you Death?' ... IT'S THE SCYTHE, ISN'T IT? PEOPLE ALWAYS NOTICE THE SCYTHE.
