[opensuse-factory] Product name changed? Why?
Currently: v | 42.1-update-oss | MozillaFirefox | 47.0-24.1 | 48.0-27.1 | x86_64 zypper up Loading repository data... Reading installed packages... The following application is going to be installed: "Firefox Web Browser" The following application is going to be REMOVED: Firefox What the heck? Why is there so much chaos in Linux? Is it important that a package has a name? Or that a package name changes? Why can it not stay the same? Why does it need to change? Or is this just random decisions? Arbitrary coding? Please explain the Linux world to me. Thank you. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

What the heck? Why do you think, a difference you see in an update to an already released distribution (Leap 42.1) is relevant for this mailing-list (opensuse-factory)? Is it important to assess the problem before sending a mail to an ill-chosen mailing-list? Why do some regular posters on this list do not know the difference between a package name and the application name in the output of zypper? Is everybody here aware that every change can be seen in OBS? Especially that there was a Mainentance request associated to this update? see https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/416804 Why can everybody see in the request that there is a changelog entry - Update description and screenshots in appdata.xml file. which changes just the appstream information and thus the application info in the zypper output but never the real package name? Why was this information included in the security announcement, so that any regular on this mailing list (and others) could know that something has changed? No thanks, but with Greetings Thomas P.S.: No, I do not know the reason for this change, but I would have asked the friendly maintainer with a friendly mail or on the opensuse list (if I did not know anything of the mentioned facts above). But I would not have made a bunch of different allegations. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
