[opensuse-factory] beta 1, second glance :-)
going back and forth from/to the option menu is now pretty fast (was very long, with redetection), very fine there is an error in the french text of the page "internet test". The text say: "les tests suivants _ont été réalisés_", this mean "the test has been done". Obviously at this time no test take place, so the phrase should be "are to be done", that is "vont être réalisés". installing sources works, but is pretty long. This should be said when the option is asked for (recommended, but may take as long as 30 minutes) on the while, an error occured (factory-debug not found) at the first automatic start, on the login page, the keyboard is in QWERTY mode (I had problems with my dummy root passwd). It may be noted than no user account was asked for and than so the only account available was root one. after starting I got an open kde menu (but my cat runned on the keyboard, so this may have buffered keys :-) and a kde crash window, with no desktop icons at all I asked for a reboot and got an extremely fast one (evidently a soft reboot) and the usual "bomb" root desktop (the first was the usual user blue) at the first cold start (normal switch off the computer, then on again), yast say the install failed (no notice before). The computer started howeverb ut still in qwerty. Yast and kde _are_ in french mode... the computer is a celeron 600 with lot of ram (450Mb) and a 4Gb HDD thats all for today :-) jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://dodin.org/galerie_photo_web/expo/index.html http://lucien.dodin.net http://fr.susewiki.org/index.php?title=Gérer_ses_photos --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Was this after you said yes to adding the factory installation source as an update source? If so, I had YaST seg-fault there and drop me to a KDM login screen without setting up the users. Apparently, this is known since someone's already opened a bug about it[0].

That sounds familiar.

Don't know about that because I swapped to a console and started YaST there to set up some users.

Exactly the same. It appears that since the YaST seg-faulted and quit during the install, the install script didn't pick up the failure, thought YaST had finished completely and continued on to the login prompt. Upon restarting, YaST pointed out the failure to complete the installation and started back at the package selection stage. However, it seems to have noticed that that part had completed and so continued to asking for the root password. After that it continued to network settings where it picked up the proxy settings but insisted on turning on the firewall even though the first time around I'd turned it off. Next it successfully did the internet connection test and asked if I wanted to set up an installation source. After the previous seg-fault, I chose not to at that time. don't know. I said "yes" to all the install sources proposed (I checked 3 proposed sources)

this morning, when starting the copputer, yast did the same "continue install" thing. then it could not connect to the repodata of eberhart server (I had to jump) but did catalog initialisation (in fact he is doing this now) jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://dodin.org/galerie_photo_web/expo/index.html http://lucien.dodin.net http://fr.susewiki.org/index.php?title=Gérer_ses_photos --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
