[opensuse-factory] online update problem after abort
Hi, RC1 is starting to look really good - not installing zen/rug now works (thanks much!) and I really like the new installation categories and the use of colour in the UI there. Configuring and connecting to an update mirror first time round only shows a zypp update - pretty clever. I didn't have the DVD media in the drive though ("connected" the wrong cdrom in vmware) and got an error involving a delta.rpm - good. I click ok but then find I still had the wrong DVD, so abort the update. Yast informs me "update completed, restarting". Eh no, update not completed. On restart, zypp and a kernel update are shown. This looks like a bug to me (no checking of return status of the first update round) - or is this intentional? What's gonna happen in case of a network error? It should just see that the updated RPMs are not installed and update them again. We had some bugs where the paqtch was marked taboo, but I think it got fixed. Yes the zypp update is marked "not installed", but this time both the zypp and the kernel update are ticked for installation, thus negating the clerverness of ensuring a zypp update before doing anything else. Not sure whether this is intended or a good idea. A further, unrelated, reason for my problem here is that after uploading my hardware details to Novell I got landed with http://ftp.kddilabs.jp/Linux/packages/SuSE/suse/update/10.2/ which turns out not to have a rpm/x86_64/ causing all update attempts to fail. Is Novell keeping track of all the mirrors and what they carry? There is no feature to tell yast "this mirror you suggested is no good, suggest the next one please". Manually entering an installation source should of course work.
