How to join the meeting? https://calendar.opensuse.org/teams/release/events/opensuse-release-engineer... All meeting minutes can be found here: https://etherpad.opensuse.org/p/ReleaseEngineering-meeting ## Attendees: ana, DimStar, rbrown, lkocman, max, wengel, adrians, ## Leap Leap 16.0 https://openqa.opensuse.org/group_overview/129 openQA finally looks better zypper dup 15.6 -> 16.0 in openQA First issues with zypper dup from 15.6 -> 16.0 are being reported. https://github.com/openSUSE/agama/pull/1613 Reworked agama bootmenu - but we are behaving differently than SLES 15 / Leap 15 on Legacy USB scenario. SLE Micro 6.1 was synced to OBS so I can start working on Leap Micro 6.1 ## openSUSE Tumbleweed (Ana) openSUSE:Factory build fail stats: 65 failed 16 unresolvable (last week 86 failed, 8 unresolvable) https://tinyurl.com/ysy4nnnz ( https://build.opensuse.org/project/show/openSUSE:Factory:Rebuild shows the results when we'd use rebuild=transitive, i.e 460 failed packages) 835 requests accepted in the last week Most relevant changes: Kernel headers 6.11 Plasma 6.1.5 & KDE release gear 24.08.1 Boost 1.86.0 by default Mesa 24.1.7 Linux Kernel Longterm 6.6.51 LibreOffice 24.8.1.2 gtk4 4.16.1 Other updates: curl 8.10.0 gdbm 1.24 crun 1.17 cryptsetup 2.7.5 deltarpm 3.6.5 libzypp 17.35.11 strace 6.11 Blocked: perl-Bootloader to be renamed to update-bootloader, openQA tests needs updating https://progress.opensuse.org/issues/165686 python-Sphinx 8.0.2: causes a few breakages, blocked by python310: FTBFS python-furl and python-xmlschema (testing upload) python311 blocked by FTBFS: python-furl and python-xmlschema (Testing upload) python312 blocked by FTBFS: python-executing (Testing upload), python-Twisted:test, python-bugzilla Mesa 24.2.2. wrong colors https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1230637 timezone 2024b, needs update of at least postgresql16 longer-lasting topics Switch default LSM from AppArmor to SELinux, see https://lists.opensuse.org/archives/list/factory@lists.opensuse.org/thread/Y... ## Richard (Aeon+botmaster) Aeon/tik had a fun bug where health-checker would fail on first boot before network was configured, because of the introduction of a zypper test that assumed a populated cache. This manifested in many cases with GDM loading but then not able to login/autologin as health-checker had blocked the rest of booting health-checker has been temporarily removed from tik as a result This issue has triggered investigations in the following area * Disabling getty generator (we don't need local TTY's, and they can block messages from health-checker late in boot) lkocman: just be aware that you might cut yourself from some openQA scenarios choosing like tty6 etc .... * Use gdm-systemd instead of display-manager; This is mostly to simplfy having gdm as a mandatory service by health-checker, but wayland by default/everywhere will be a bonus * Adding health-checker tests specifically for Aeon - which will push health-checker to running later in the boot and as a result make the behaviour less likely to occur semi 'randomly' when multiple services are starting in parralel. Also in discussions with the SELinux team about tuning/forking microos-tools to stop relabeling all of /srv and /home all the time making Aeon boots much slower than they need to be ## Max Leap 16.0 * Adjusted totestmanager to be able to work with Leap 16.0 setup Many thanks Max! last two builds were auto-released/published. * Sorted project config, unnecessary and incorrect lines are removed * Sorting release-package, and looking for an automatically way to integrate 000update-repos result into weakremovers.inc ## Guillaume - Arm Tumbleweed: * Rolling * User complained about missing web browsers for armv7 - https://lists.opensuse.org/archives/list/arm@lists.opensuse.org/thread/5LLTU... Leap 15.5: * RPi3 boot problem related to a kernel update https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1225352 Leap 15.6: * Problems on RPi4 with very long boot and keyboard unrecognized with latest rapsberrypi-eeprom update (update taken from TW) - https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1230104 ## Sarah - s390x Not available ## Doug Not available ## Dirk Not available ## Maintenance (Marcus, Robert) No news ## Wolfgang (Package Hub), Scott Bahling, Nathan Cutler Considering removing uninstallables from Backports SLE-15-SP7 documenting dependencies to other extensions like Workstation Extension lkocman: jira for SLES ReleaseNotes? Checking on current git workflow with Backports for SLES-16, trying to setup a project until next week for testing (also to get familiar with the involved git project setup) ## Adrian - OBS Restructuring of git so we can manage multiple packagesets from different directories. This requires an additional configuration file where subdirectories and additional rules can be configured. Please reach out in case you have needs in this regard. ## Bernhard - Slowroll Not available ## Bernhard - reproducible builds Not available ## Adam - Git Workflow - porting mold:core to a git project - WIP on workflow-pr to move to RabbitMQ. workflow-direct is finished. ## Open Floor
