[opensuse-factory] 13.2 Beta1 DVD rescue system on Dell XPS 15 ( model 9530)
Hello, trying to start the rescue system from 13.2 on my Dell XPS 15 causes a total system crash when it switches to graphics mode ( NVidia Optimus graphics) . I want to open a bug report for that but I cant't get any useful information from the crashed system because there is neither a serial port for running a serial console nor a ethernet port for running a netconsole ( USB-adaptors for ethernet or serial port don't work AFAIK). Are there any ideas for getting enough information for a useful bugreport from that system ? PS: Installation system seems to be usable however. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

even starting with nomodeset plymouth.enable=0 nosplash verbose ? -- Bruno Friedmann Ioda-Net Sàrl www.ioda-net.ch openSUSE Member & Board, fsfe fellowship GPG KEY : D5C9B751C4653227 irc: tigerfoot -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

PS: Installation system seems to be usable however. I was probably wrong when I said it is crashing when switching to graphics mode. Last line before it crashes is "Loading rescue system (3/3)" with no error message before Then the screen goes black ( that makes it impossible to take a photo) and the Caps-Lock LED begins to blink. Adding the proposed kernel parameters ( neither acpi_backlight... nor nomodeset ...) doesn't change anything.

caps lock blinking = kernel crash time for a full bug report ... Didn't openQA test the rescue image ? -- Bruno Friedmann Ioda-Net Sàrl www.ioda-net.ch openSUSE Member & Board, fsfe fellowship GPG KEY : D5C9B751C4653227 irc: tigerfoot -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

I mean plymouth.enable=0 NOT plymouth.enabled=0. -- Cristian "I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody." -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Kernel panic..oops. boot with splash=verbose plymouth.enabled=0 debug and take a picture of the crash. Well , I can see the textmessages scrolling down until the crash. Last line is "loading rescue system (3/3)" But at the moment when it crashes the screen goes black. Even with these kernel parameters applied. So it will be difficult to take a picture with useful information.
PS: I'am 100% sure if i applied the parameters right. Changing linuxefi /boot/x86_64/loader/linux rescue=1 to linuxefi /boot/x86_64/loader/linux rescue=1 splash=verbose plymouth.enabled=0 and then F10 to boot is the right thing to do ? Or do I have to edit another line ? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
