[opensuse-factory] AMDGPU-PRO Driver Repository
Hi! They are plans to build a repository for the amdgpu-pro driver? In the AMD website are drivers for many of the distros, but not for Opensuse http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/AMD-Radeon-GPU-PRO-Linux-Beta-Driver–Release-Notes.aspx The only amdgpu-pro drivers for the suse family are for SLED/SLES 12 SP2 http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/AMDGPU-PRO-Driver-for-Linux-R... I tryed to install the amdgpu-pro driver in Leap 42.2, but I got some errors, the same as decribed in: https://community.amd.com/thread/212558 I know You are building propietary drivers for Nvidia with his repo, but not for the new amdgpu-pro driver, which is open source. Yes, you are right! Sorry! I was confused with the amdgpu included on the actual kernel, and forgot the EULA: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/gpu-pro-eula As mentioned on https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:AMD_fglrx The latest propietary driver was for Leap 42.1, but the fglrx driver does not work on Leap 42.2+ or Tumbleweed as it has been abandoned by AMD. I have installed Leap 42.1 in the first hard disk, and Leap 42.2 on the second hard disk. Testing a Radeon R7 240 video card with glmark2 in Leap 42.1 with the fglrx driver, the perfomance was about 70% of the value obtained in Leap 42.2 with the open source Radeon driver. The fglrx driver was 30% slower than the Radeon driver. Two days ago, I changed Radeon R7 240 video card with a Radeon R9 380X, and tested it again with glmark2 in Leap 42.1 with the fglrx driver, and in Leap 42.2 with the open source driver (in this case has loaded the amdgpu driver from the kernel), and in this case the score with fglrx was 3 times higher ( glmark2 Score: 3607 vs 1268) I hope with the amdgpu-pro driver I can obtain the same achievement at least in Leap 42.2 than with fglrx in Lep 42.1.
