# smart install foo.rpm

Yum also

#yum localinstall foo.rpm

I'm not sure what features you plan to implement, so I'm just asking :)

On the radar... A workaround exists in the meantime: create a temp dir, put the packag there, add the repo as PlainDir and install. I must be missing something in this discussion.

Word 'zypper' ;-)

I just use Konqueror file manager and go find the RPM in any directory. Then right click and then Open With i-> install software.

Though there is more then on way around.
