Hi, I'm running Akonadi using the PostgreSQL backend. Latest TW update brings a new main version of PostgreSQL. Anybody has any experiences with the update to postgresql14 with regard to akonadi? Is it necessary to run the update of akonadi manuallly, like described here: https://userbase.kde.org/Akonadi/Postgres_update ? Or will a simple zypper dup + reboot be enough? -- Regards, Alexander

According to my prior experience with akonadi on Postgres you need the procedure as decribed by the KDE Team. Works well Cheers Axel

Tried that this morning but kept getting a locale error during the database check (followed the instructions just updating the version numbers) Went back to Alternatives and reset the Postgresql setting to 13 manual, not sure why the upgrade changed my setting though.
Cheers Axel

Note that unlike what the page says, recent installs use C.UTF-8 as locale. So when you use "initdb" you should use that one. -- Luca Beltrame - KDE Forums team GPG key ID: A29D259B

Ok, thanks. I followed the page exactly and it says "Warning. Do NOT change the --locale value." Maybe the page needs updating -- opensuse:tumbleweed:20211012 Qt: 5.15.2 KDE Frameworks: 5.86.0 - KDE Plasma: 5.22.5 - kwin 5.22.5 kmail2 5.18.1 (21.08.1) - akonadiserver 5.18.1 (21.08.1) - Kernel: 5.14.9-1-default - xf86-video-nouveau: 1.0.17

Ah, so it wasn't my mistake. Indeed, then the command to create the new database is: /usr/lib/postgresql14/bin/initdb --pgdata=$HOME/.local/share/akonadi/db_data --locale=C.UTF-8 The check then worked and the update as well.

It still depends on with which locale your DB was created! Otherwise you see: lc_collate-Values for database »postgres« do not match: old »en_US.UTF-8«, new »C.UTF-8« if the --check step retruns this issue one needs to delete $HOME/.local/share/ akonadi/db_data and recreate the database with the correct locale Cheers Axel PS: google-groupware (contacts, calendar) keeps crashing since the update....

FTR, that's how it was created (with C.UTF-8 locale) when I switched from MariaDB to Postgres not too long ago (1 month ago or so). I assume that's the new default set when Akonadi creates the database. -- Luca Beltrame - KDE Forums team GPG key ID: A29D259B
