[opensuse-factory] radeonHD
Hello, I just read the news on http://www.osnews.com/story/19378 that 3D specifications were made public. Does this mean, that for 11.0 there will be OSS 3D drivers? I doubt that this driver will be ready by then.. IIRC, even 2D acceleration is not yet entirely implemented in the RadeonHD driver, that is based on the 2D specs... But if you have knowledge in programming, I'm sure the project would not deny one (two) hands more typing and testing. I dont think so, implementing the needed functionality is probably complex and may take a while to both write and test the code. probably something for openSUSE 12 :) -- "Morality is merely an interpretation of certain phenomena — more precisely, a misinterpretation." - Friedrich Nietzsche Cristian Rodríguez R. It takes several dozen manyears of development to get a halfway decent 3D driver developed from scratch for any current hardware, even with complete and fully correct specs being available. They are a list related to RadeonHD in Opensuse http://lists.opensuse.org/radeonhd/ The last documents published is: http://www.x.org/docs/AMD/R5xx_Acceleration_v1.1.pdf Other sites: http://www.radeonhd.org/ http://lists.x.org/mailman/listinfo/xorg-driver-ati I mean that the really Radeon HD are from the series 2400 and up, and from it I do'nt see any document published.
