I did about the same thing. I downloaded and installed only the userland and jre rpms and it seems to have fixed things. I also uninstalled some off the openSuSE's version. Check "rpm -qa | grep OpenOffice" and see if the vesions agree. Oh Yea! I forgot to mention that this miserable useless wasteful security on my /home/donn/Documents direcrory. Directories and files which have that darn dot "." at the end of the mode line give me this error. "Access denied to /home/donn/Documents/donn/"whatever-directory or file. It is fine to install the upstream version as a workaround. Though, we would really appreciate if you report such bugs into bugzilla, so that the right people know about them and could fix the openSUSE packages. The "." is related to SElinux.

I think the consensus was that Donn somehow enabled SElinux which in turn caused him massive problems.

If there is a bug, it is related to how SElinux got enabled.
