[opensuse-factory] Kernel 4.17.x problem
Hello, ever since kernel 4.17.1 showed up in a TW snapshot around two or three weeks ago, I am completely missing keyboard input already early in the boot phase. I.e. when the Plymouth screen shows I cannot hit a key to return to the text message screen, and after Plasma has booted up, I cannot type anything anywhere. The mouse works perfectly. this is a cheaper ASUS laptop, Intel Core i5. Besides booting the earlier kernel I have no idea how to approach the problem or even which logs to look at for a previous boot. I'd be very grateful for tips on how to obtain logs or debug this, or a link to a bug ticket if it is a known issue, I was not able to find one but my time is pretty limited and I need this machine for everyday work at the moment. Thanks, Edgar -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

This is the kind of email where you would have been much better creating a bug report against the kernel, the kernel team will be able to help you with this issue, you don't need to involve everyone on this list. -- Simon Lees (Simotek) http://simotek.net Emergency Update Team keybase.io/simotek SUSE Linux Adelaide Australia, UTC+10:30 GPG Fingerprint: 5B87 DB9D 88DC F606 E489 CEC5 0922 C246 02F0 014B

It's likely a problem that has been already fixed. Try the kernel in OBS Kernel:stable repo. Takashi -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Indeed, this one works. So chances are this fix will soon be in TW? And would you mind to give any pointers to what the actual bug was? Yes.

It's bug 1098074, a regression in ACPICA AML parser. Takashi -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
