[opensuse-factory] Re: [opensuse] Need help with setting wifi

The airplane lamp is on again... And the network is unavailable. As far as I know, the notebook has an Intel dualband wifi which needs iwlwifi driver and 7265-8 and 7265-9 firmware. These are in /etc/firmware. After booting I have wired network, but for a short time only, it is kicked off, and cannot connect again, only by rebooting. Network manager is not very responsive.
Help would be welcome Albert
hi, maybe you need a newer fireless firmware for your hardware. First, look at the boot log and search for something like this Mar 21 06:58:17 linux-gmdj kernel: Intel(R) Wireless WiFi driver for Linux Mar 21 06:58:17 linux-gmdj kernel: Copyright(c) 2003- 2015 Intel Corporation Mar 21 06:58:17 linux-gmdj kernel: iwlwifi 0000:03:00.0: Direct firmware load for iwlwifi-3160-17.ucode failed with error -2 Then (connect your wired network and) go to https://wireless.wiki.kernel.org/en/users/drivers/iwlwifi and download the matching firmware - I guess wlwifi-7265-ucode-16.242414.0.tgz Then extract it to /lib/firmware Then reboot Profit! -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
