[opensuse-factory] KR49 repository: printing in KDE 4.9.4 hangs
Hi, Since the upgrade to KDE 4.9.4 I am unable to print from any KDE application, the application just hangs when I hit the print button, does anyone observe the same behavior? _______________ - not the same, but : Tumbleweed using desktop XFCE __________ -after using YAST to verify my printer HP PSC 1510 Series , the YAST test Print is OK However, when i try to print from LibreOffice, Gimp, Okular the result is either a blank page with nothing on it , or occasionally a poor quality not satisfactory print - this is puzzling because the Yast Test Print for Cups is Good. Any ideas please, what to try ?? thanks Best regards Ellan -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
The bug differs from what I described :-) When a network printer is not available (e.g. something went wrong on the firewall and the firewall drops the traffic), the KDE applications hang indefinetely instead of reporting a correct error message. What does "indefinetely" actually mean in this case? Does it hang several seconds (how many?) until it proceeeds? Does it hang some minutes (how many?) until it proceeeds? Does it hang a few hours until it proceeeds? Does it hang more than a few hours (probably infinite)? After approx. 10 minutes there was still no print window, then I killed the poor program :-)

The bug differs from this one, the programs function correctly, until I hit the print option in the menu (or print button, shortcut).
