[opensuse-factory] Failing to suspend - now with beeps!
OK, so openSUSE 11.1 RC1, I try to get my Sony Vaio FW-190 laptop to suspend, (this is GNOME) instead it locks the screen and makes several loud distressed beeps. It does not suspend the computer. So what do the beeps mean, and how can I diagnose the problem? Before my upgrade to RC1, in Beta 5.x and earlier suspend was working fine. -- Kevin "Yeaux" Dupuy - openSUSE Member Public Mail: <kevin.dupuy@opensuse.org> Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays from the Yeaux! -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

I don't know, but I can give you some ideas. First, there is a log, /var/log/pm-suspend.log. Then, there is a configuration file in /etc/suspend.conf, where I sugest you change the following: #suspend loglevel = 2 suspend loglevel = 3 ## use splash picture? (default y) splash = n Killing the splash screen lets you see what it is doing, instead of loking at a cute display that says nothing. And increasing the verbosity can hel finding problems.
