[opensuse-factory] The fonts and logo on grub theme are too small
Are the new grub theme using fixed logo picture and font size? The current using size are too small for my screen (a 15.6" 1080p screen). I remember that the old theme has a better display effect. Do we have plan to polish this theme for different screen resolution? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
Hi,
I remember that the old theme has a better display effect. Do we have plan to polish this theme for different screen resolution?
I was planning but I didn't have the time. I wanted to create bash script reading grub resolution from /sys/devices/platform/efi-framebuffer.0/height and width for efi and the same thing for bios, as post install in branding package, but didn't have time to do this. That way I could have stuff rendered based on resolution of system, which would be great :D That could pose some problems with changing resolutions, but it's still better idea than leaving it like it is ;) LCP [Stasiek] https://lcp.world -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Something like that was in there before but that doesn't work well. Grub really should do the resolution detection itself, without the help of some script that mangles the config. cu Ludwig -- (o_ Ludwig Nussel //\ V_/_ http://www.suse.com/ SUSE Linux GmbH, GF: Felix Imendörffer, Jane Smithard, Graham Norton, HRB 21284 (AG Nürnberg) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

In my eyes that script didn't do enough, all it did was scale background to best fit proportions, it would be nice to make it with scalable fonts (ship with ttf font that is extracted into grub format after installation), SVG logo that gets rendered after installation etc, so it would fit it best. I understand that GRUB2 should have options like that built in, but things like Plymouth that are infinitely more advanced can't even handle one piece of SVG, so I doubt GRUB will gain that ability anytime soon. In the meantime it would be nice to at least try to make it work with what we have. I believe that at least having a grub-hidpi theme with proper vter32bis font in it would offer a good alternative for those who can't read 4 pixels high ;-) -- Bruno Friedmann Ioda-Net Sàrl www.ioda-net.ch Bareos Partner, openSUSE Member, fsfe fellowship GPG KEY : D5C9B751C4653227 irc: tigerfoot -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
