A litle question, why the yast module Software Repositories is available as an independent module here and not in the DVD version? (don't missunderstand me, I rather having it separated than hidden in the Software manager) By the way, it's the gnome version what I'm talking about. Because those live CDs contain updated packages (where that setting has currently been changed). I started the live installer, and I have some comments: * The Timezone selection dialog it's a bit different (it doesn't show the world map), did you decided to change this? * The live installer doesn't have the option to update an existing system. And by default it tried to remove my existing partitions. I decided to continue anyway (it's a VM so I don't care the existing partitions) I had to unmount the existing partitions before proceed because they were automatically mounted and the installer threw an error. It would be good that the installer itself unmount the partition prior to remove/format it. * I decide to go on with the default, and I got error code "-1014" deleting the partition -previously unmounted- (yast logs http://www.sendspace.com/file/rj0w2l ) * Next try, without deleting the partitions, just formatting them. Nautilus open itself automatically when the partition is mounted, not sure if this could cause some problems or it's not important. During keyboard configuration save, the installer close itself and threw an segmentation fault error (screenshot http://i28.tinypic.com/5a2hch.png, yast logs http://www.sendspace.com/file/0kdwmn) * After that, I rebooted the system and got a black screen. I have no time to continue right now, so I stop here. I just submitted a bug report for that issue here; https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=384207
Kind regards.

It can't update. It's technically impossible to very challenging.
I had to unmount the existing partitions before proceed because they were automatically mounted and the installer threw an error. It would be good that the installer itself unmount the partition prior to remove/format it. This bug is known.
* I decide to go on with the default, and I got error code "-1014" deleting the partition -previously unmounted- (yast logs http://www.sendspace.com/file/rj0w2l ) Please file a bug report.

The nautilus popup is basically the same as the "already mounted" bug.
* After that, I rebooted the system and got a black screen. I have no time to continue right now, so I stop here. Too bad .)

Ok, I like that.
I started the live installer, and I have some comments:

The live installer is a different code than the normal install. But this is certainly a valid point, please, open a bug report.
* The live installer doesn't have the option to update an existing system.
And most probably never will. Live-CD does not have any packages, so it would need to operate using online repositories only and for that you have mini ISO. Much better solution would be to have a way to upgrade existing running system, but this is also very tricky.
Please, file a bug report. Thanks for testing! Stano --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
Because those live CDs contain updated packages (where that setting has currently been changed).
Do you mean that software management and software repositories modules are separated again? If so, why? It was one of the nicest enhancement in YaST. The problem was (and is) the use of a drop-down list to show the "Add repository" functionality to users, not the integration of the two modules. You can access Repository Management from Software Management and as Software repositories, which is actually good. You can manage repos on the fly while searching for packages to install, and you don't have to wait for package manager to start in order to manage repositories. -- Regards, Rajko http://en.opensuse.org/Portal needs helpful hands. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

I agree. That's why (if) I asked why the software repositories module is back. Regards, A. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

The module was never gone. But now you can it in addition as desktop file. Even though it is better to be only able to do it (adding software repos) only one way, I find this to be a good solution. I did not really test it, I was happy it built :)
I'm running new Live CD iso in VirtualBox with: - not formatted hard disk image of 8 GB - RAM 640 MB Programs start fine. OpenOffice has no bouncing cursor feedback. Installer stops on Welcome when LiveCD is started without options. It stops after changing only title to Timezone setup. It seems like desktop crash, as I can move mouse cursor, but nothing registers cursor. Next attempt was to format hard disk with 'yast disk'. Start installer - error icon is missing Type=. Next RAM 832 MB. Crash on Welcome right after accepting license. Next RAM 1024. Boot option 'init 3'. Root login. yast live-installer Goes past time zone, it is not happy with my partitions, and changes sizes. Now it can't find 'dvd-11.0.85.i586.pat.gz'. I can't see whole path, but after few Skips, it continues with 'Copy the Live Image to Hard Disk'. Bail out with segmentation fault when saving configuration. It is similar to https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=384207 Forgot to save yast logs before reboot. GRUB is not installed. Initrd is not created. Base system exist. Manual creation of initrd creates the file, but mkinitrd is missing device mapper. Manual installation of bootloader appear to be done, but boot fails with 'no operating system installed'. Have a fun. -- Regards, Rajko http://en.opensuse.org/Portal needs helpful hands. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
