[opensuse-factory] zypper locking docs clear as mud
I've been using locks for years, but only for what I consider to be specific single packages. Man page, --help and Google all fail to describe in manner I can understand how to lock all packages containing a string. Is this the default? Is all I need to lock all kdebase4 packages simply 'zypper al kdebase4'? Or is it 'zypper al -t pattern kdebase4'? I've currently applied the latter (correct?), but I think the man page could use some clarification. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive." Can you explain how to use different match type for different locks? E.g. glob for kde and exact string for gcc? While locks(5) does describe entries, it is silent about how multiple entries are combined in a file. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Didn't help, nor the locks man page. Both are about managing the locks file with an editor, not zypper. I just spent 10 minutes adding locks with zypper for at least two dozen individual trinity packages so that I could update everything except trinity packages in 12.2, even though I did manage to figure it out after spending over an hour of frustration trying to lock exactly the same packages less than a week ago on a different system. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive."
