[opensuse-factory] Changes to OpenSUSE Leap Release Management
Dear all, I would like to announce a change to the Release Management for OpenSUSE Leap. Effective March 1st, the torch will pass from Coolo to Ludwig Nussel. I think even if you were just on the side lines of the openSUSE community in the past years, you will not need a lengthy explanation of who they are and how they have contributed to openSUSE :-) Going forward, Coolo wants to focus more on establishing new practices around test automation, particularly in the context of openqa. Ludwig will assume the responsibility of supporting the community from the SUSE side in delivering openSUSE Leap releases. Tumbleweed stays in the able hands of Dominique Leuenberger. Please join me in thanking Coolo for his eminent contributions in supporting and shaping openSUSE, and in wishing Ludwig a successful start in his new role. Sincerely, Olaf Kirch -- Olaf Kirch - Director SUSE Linux Enterprise; R&D (okir@suse.com) SUSE Linux GmbH, Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GF: Felix Imendörffer, Jane Smithard, Dilip Upmanyu, Graham Norton, HRB 21284 (AG Nürnberg) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

@Ludwig: Congratz, I'm sure there couldn't be a better successor to Coolo to take care of Leap! @Coolo: Happy hacking! All the best in the "new" role! -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Indeed. I am new here, but am one of the many thousands who have benefited from your combined efforts, so thanks to you both, and to Dominique, and all those who work to better OpenSuse as well! A good opportunity to indeed thank both Coolo and Ludwig for their contributions. Seems like they've always been around. Cheers, guys. -- Gertjan Lettink, a.k.a. Much love and respect to both you guys. And my apologies to coolo for sometimes being a PITA over the last 10-11 years. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Expression of gratitude and best wishes for future success of course go to both Ludwig and Stephan, but I do have a question: why are all the releases of Tumbleweed since 1 March under the name of Ludwig? It's just an automated message, set up by Ludwig. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (1.6°C) http://www.dns24.ch/ - your free DNS host, made in Switzerland. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Yes I know that it is. So is someone still writing a script to alter the script of that automated message? Those mails have been sent out in Ludwig's name since they started. If changes on those scripts are needed, they can certainly be incorporated. The source of the entire script (for anybody interested) is hosted at https://github.com/openSUSE/osc-plugin-factory/tree/master/factory-pack age-news Basil: do you have anything in particular in mind that needed to be changed? Or are you just afraid Ludwig won't care for this script anymore in his new role? I don't know what ought or not to be changed. The announcement having been made and with no change in who is really reporting or who to contact re new releases I just thought that perhaps someone forgot to tell Stephan about the change, that's all.
