[opensuse-factory] Why does k3b refuse my DVD
Hey Group; Another complaint. Why does SuSE 11.2 K3B 1.65 #### refuse to even see my working DVD?. I am trying to burn a open Source DVD.iso It mounts DVD and CDs correctly (so it is hooked up) but is not seen by SuSE's K3B. I have even set about everything in /etc/group that has permission set on /dev/sr1 (DVD writer) and sr0 (Player) On K#B Devices blacks out all selections This kind of thing is getting rather tiring. And even in a konsole or xterm /usr/bin/k3b fails to even come up as "su". That just hangs with nothing happenig ldd shows all libs are met. -- 73 de Donn Washburn 307 Savoy Street Email:" n5xwb@comcast.net " Sugar Land, TX 77478 LL# 1.281.242.3256 Ham Callsign N5XWB HAMs : " n5xwb@arrl.net " VoIP via Gizmo: bmw_87kbike / via Skype: n5xwbg BMW MOA #: 4146 - Ambassador " http://counter.li.org " #279316 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
Fixed it. As a user it is now allowing kde to use k3b and my DVD. It was a device setting of 660 and of course k3d uses the last "0" permission. So, setting it to 666 it now works. On 06/08/2009 04:43 PM, Donn Washburn wrote:

If I remember right, running K3B setup after install asks you if you want to change the permissions to 666. This has caught me several times after new installs. Glad to see all is well now. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

An user, who is logged in, should get the permission automatically, with ACL: nadvornik@sphinx2:~> ll /dev/sr0 brw-rw----+ 1 root disk 11, 0 28. kvě 19.54 /dev/sr0 nadvornik@sphinx2:~> getfacl /dev/sr0 getfacl: Removing leading '/' from absolute path names # file: dev/sr0 # owner: root # group: disk user::rw- user:nadvornik:rw- group::rw- mask::rw- other::--- Vladimir -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
