[opensuse-factory] cannot resize konsole

Tumbleweed, up-to-date 20160701 One of my laptops has "resize" grayed out/unselectable in settings, but only in a plasma5/kde session, not in an icewm session. Why and where can I correct this? tks, -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA @ptilopteri http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member facebook/ptilopteri http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Could you please be a bit more specific what option you mean exactly? I only see "Use current window size on next startup" in the general settings, is it this? And then there's of course the "Terminal Size" in the profile settings, which only works if you disable the former (but it shouldn't be disabled). no, this is not selected.
And then there's of course the "Terminal Size" in the profile settings, which only works if you disable the former (but it shouldn't be disabled).
and that is set but not observed. Terminal size is not what is set. If I switch from plasma5 to icewm, it is set correctly (w/o making any change) and the window size is changeable by moving the mouse to a side or corner and dragging. It is not in plasma5 ??? sorry about the "resize" note, don't know where I got that ... tks, -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA @ptilopteri http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member facebook/ptilopteri http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Well, my question was whether you mean this option as the one that is greyed out/unselectable. Apparently not.
This should work since 15.12.2 (it was broken before). But only if the other mentioned option is turned off, and only if you open a window with that specific profile. But as it works in IceWM, there is no general issue with the option obviously.

So your actual problem is that you cannot resize the window at all (when run in Plasma5)? Can you resize other windows? Do you maybe have a kwin rule in place that prevents resizing the window/sets a fixed size? Right-click on the window title bar and choose "More Actions"->"Custom Settings for this window/application" to check. Or remove/rename ~/.config/kwinrulesrc (logout/login to make sure ii has effect), or try on a fresh user account. I appologize for delay and you are correct, I did have a "custom" setting which memory did not recall. Function is now what I perceive as correct. Btw, it seems that the ability to have access to this menu from the context menu of the application icon in the task manager widget has been lost in Plasma5, leaving only the first few options from the menu. So if you switch a window to "No Border", there's no way back unless you define a shortcut for that option. No need for a special shortcut for "No Border". You can press Alt + F3 to get the window menu - and that will include the option to re-enable the border ;-) Regards, Christian Boltz --
