BTW, w.r.t. some other comments there, I do have apper and packagekit installed and it still doesn't work.
As far as I understand, apper was a last minute try to replace a buggy packagekit, but not mature enough. better use zypper or yast...

There are already 12.1 updates for the update stack! I just enabled online updates for the first time in 12.1. This is what I see (via zypper patch). ==== The following packages are going to be upgraded: libpackagekit-glib2-14 libpackagekit-qt14 libpackagekit-qt2-2 PackageKit PackageKit-browser-plugin PackageKit-gstreamer-plugin PackageKit-gtk3-module PackageKit-gtk-module ==== My understanding is that it's not apper that is buggy, but some of the opensuse libraries it depends on. I don't know if the above PackageKit updates will help or not. Then after you update the update stack, you should run zypper patch a second time and get a new flash-player. === sudo zypper patch Loading repository data... Reading installed packages... Resolving package dependencies... The following NEW package is going to be installed: flash-player-kde4 The following NEW patches are going to be installed: openSUSE-2011-3 openSUSE-2011-4 openSUSE-2011-5 The following packages are going to be upgraded: flash-player gstreamer-0_10-fluendo-mp3 pullin-flash-player 3 packages to upgrade, 1 new. Overall download size: 5.2 MiB. After the operation, 14.6 MiB will be freed. Continue?
