[opensuse-factory] ARCHIVES.gz for tumbleweed?
Hello, would it be possible to have an ARCHIVES.gz generated for tumbleweed? Ideally this would happen with each snapshot release, but having it generated once a month would also be ok if it causes too much load. I'm asking because I have some usecases [1] that can be answered easily by grepping ARCHIVES.gz, while other methods tend to be more difficult. Regards, Christian Boltz [1] for example: - find packages with AppArmor profiles - find packages with strange file permissions -- Well, in rc3 it complains about using an uninitialized value at line 1465. But at least the message is shorter now, so it's a kind of improvement. :-/ [Steffen Winterfeldt in https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=223909] -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

I'd love to also see support for multiple ARCHIVES.gz (OSS, non-OSS, updates) in pin. webpin partially fills the gap.

It's just too expensive for the full FTP tree. Creating this file takes easily 2 hours or more. And enabling this once a month won't help either as it would disappear on next snapshot sync. The DVDs contain them though. Why can't you do that using repomd xml? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Conversely, could we just generate ARCHIVES.gz out of repomd xml instead of running rpm -qilvp? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Are we still talking about tumbleweed repo? I'm not so sure.
