[opensuse-factory] tumbleweed dup log (or: kernel 3.0.4-43 -> 2.6.37.6?!)
Is there a log somewhere that explains why, for example, a tumbleweed zypper dup degraded the kernel from 3.0.4 to 2.6.37.6 today? Was this intentional? Any missed dependency that required going back to the 11.4 kernel? Or was a severe security problem found in all kernels after 2.6.37? I'd like to avoid this kind of time traveling. :-} m. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Crap, this was my fault, the preload-kmp failed to get built as I moved from pulling it from a different repo, so it disappeared from the repo, which if you had it installed, would have caused your kernel to downgrade. To solve this right now, unload the preload-kmp package and then the kernel will go back to the proper level. I'm fixing this in the build system right now, but will take a few hours to propagate out. Again, sorry about this and thanks for posting this so I noticed it. greg k-h -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Turns out it's worse than I thought, it seems that the preload package was deleted from the build system and I can't find where to link to it from anymore. Again, I highly recommend just 'zypper rm preload-kmp' to resolve this no matter if I figure out where the preload package went to or not. greg k -h -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

I was said to remove the preload package by Stephan Kulow, see https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=708590 several report said preload is buggy (don't ask me why) jdd -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
