Re: [opensuse-factory] Problem with kupdateapplet in RC1 (plus issues with YaST + kdesu)
Hi Stanislav Visnovsky, (sorry for the double post, the first one only went to Stanislav's private address.)
1. Upgrades are not shown, even if YaST displays them. (...)
2. When installing patches (these are shown correctly), the first authorization dialog fails: ...
I think this is fixed now.
Are you referring to the second problem, or to both?
3. Even when updating starts (...) after the first try, the same patches still showed as available.
Please, test with RC2 and if it still does not work, please, report a bug.
I will - does this mean that an RC2 is planned before the release on Dec 18?
4. The progress dialog does not report which patch is applied,
Yes, I see this too, but I'm not sure if it is an applet problem, or packagekit API itself.
I think you are right. When I installed patches with zypper instead, things looked better. Is there a reason why packagekit is the standard backend and not zypper? The 2nd one, sorry for confusion. I've not seen 1st one yet.

At least RC1 does not seem to work well, so I expect a new build to be published.

packagekit is upstream, for GNOME we already use the upstream applet. Stano -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
Hi Stanislav,
The 2nd one, sorry for confusion. I've not seen 1st one yet.
The 1st one can most easily be reproduced by adding some repositories like packman, and then checking for upgrades in YaST and kupdateapplet. YaSt displays available upgrades, updateapplet does not (for me at least).
At least RC1 does not seem to work well, so I expect a new build to be published.
Sounds good to me - the final version should look quite nice, I like where the KDE4 direction is going. So 11.1 really should be a good one.
Is there a reason why packagekit is the standard backend and not zypper?

Maybe I'll have a look at the GNOME updater applet, see if it can be made to work with KDE. Thanks for your comments, Henning -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

That doesn't help the folks running kde now though, does it. Evidently you stayed with zypper on Beta 5 unless you did some specific upgrade that pulled in the policy kit backend. Tell me it isn't going to work that way in the released version.... Do we know yet? -- David C.
