[opensuse-factory] How to manage software from xfce?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, Maybe this is not the right place to ask this question, but one never knows if someone can help with this, if one does not ask, right? If i look in 'other', in the xfce 4 menu, i see all the modules from yast 'naked'.(is this intended?) There is however no way to get into yast, or root, to manage fi software. Do i have to understand that this is not possible from xfce, or is there some hidden way to go into root, and call the desired gui-module? tia.. - -- Have a nice day, M9. Sounds like a bug to me. Anyway, you should be able to start the YaST via kdesu/gnomesu also from xfce4 Stano --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

I will first find out if i did everything the right way, and if everything is installed properly, before filing a bug about it, ;-) - -- Have a nice day, M9. Now, is the only time that exists. You should have yast2-mcs-plugin package installed if you selected Xfce pattern. This adds icon to Xfce Settings manager (called Yast2 Control Center). About 'naked' modules in Other menu: all /usr/share/applications/YaST2/*desktop files should probably have "OnlyShowIn=KDE;GNOME;" like /usr/share/applications/YaST.desktop does. -- Best Regards / S pozdravom, Pavol RUSNAK SUSE LINUX, s.r.o Package Maintainer Lihovarska 1060/12 PGP 0xA6917144 19000 Praha 9, CR prusnak[at]suse.cz http://www.suse.cz --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

That's because the YaST people decided to use some KDE- and GNOME-only (non-standardised!) extension to the .desktop format to require root permission instead of using xdg-su. Because YaST is useless without root permissions, we decided to show it only in KDE and GNOME. To show? The password requester? The Naked Modules?, or ? Sorry, this is a little cryptic for me atm.. ( there is no doubt however that you exactly know where you are talking about. ;-)
Thanks, Bernhard

There is no icon there.. I will restart KDE to look into Yast if the pkg is installed or not...

This i do not understand. The modules are accessible, one gets a warning that these modules only 'realy' work when having 'root'-privileges, and that is correct, as i experienced...(instead of this warning, a root-password requester should be offered, i would presume..?) - -- Have a nice day, M9. These modules should not be visible in Other menu.
