It is - if you look at stock 5.6.0 - but for openSUSE, our kernel team already backported the needed fix: - mac80211: fix authentication with iwlwifi/mvm ( https://lkml.kernel.org/r/20200329.212136.273575061630425724.davem@davemloft... ). So our kernel should already be good in those regards; Cheers, Dominique
Ah yes, should have known better. The kernel team is awesome ! On 4/4/20 2:32 PM, Dominique Leuenberger / DimStar wrote:

For reference and in order to test the package build *and* to keep the nvidia driver under zypper regime, you also might: cd src osc co X11\:Drivers\:Video/nvidia-gfx04 cd X11\:Drivers\:Video/nvidia-gfx04 osc service dr osc build sudo zypper in .../RPMS/x86_64/*.rpm Requires a OBS account, though. Note that, from time to time, the osc service call fails, if Stefan is quicker than NVidia publishing the new release on http://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86_64/ but this mainly concerns nvidia-gfx05 builds. This update produces reams of these messages on my system: Apr 05 09:17:36 Gertrud kernel: [drm] Reducing the compressed framebuffer size. This may lead to less power savings than a non-reduced-size. Try to increase stolen memory size if available in BIOS. There is no BIOS setting I could change on my Dell T20 unfortunaltely. I have already tried to set the kernel parameter i915.enable_fbc=0 (and a parameter file in /etc/modprobe.d with the same settings), which does result in a tainted kernel (so the setting should be active), but these messages still continue at a high rate and the frambuffer compression seems to be enabled anyway. The 5.5.* kernels do not have this problem, this message never occurs there. Short remark. I'm not sure if this is the right place but only to evaluate my finding. I've a Notebook with EFI secure and trusted boot of openSUSE tumbleweed (as dual boot with existing Windows). Due to the fact, that I've a small USB stick with openSUSE tumbleweed too, I started the USB stick on this PC and made the update. After shutting down of this stick, I can't boot the openSUSE tumbleweed on the integrated NVMe disk. Only there was an EFI error that it can't find a booteable system. Remark, I fixed it with "updating" the system with an tumbleweed install stick. Have anyone an idea, what can be wrong. Or how to fix this? So it seems that the installed GRUB was defect.
