[opensuse-factory] "overlapping" packages in repositories
I just tried a 'zypper ref; zypper dup' for the first time on 11.0 beta3. It mostly worked, but I encountered several errors of the form "File '<package>' not found on medium ...". When the transaction was complete, I ran 'zypper ref; zypper dup' again, and the packages that failed the first time were successfully upgraded. I suspect that these packages were updated in the repository during the first transaction, so when zypper tried to find them, the old versions were no longer present. Are there any plans to solve this problem? Some other distributions solve this problem by keeping the old packages in the repository for a day or two when new packages are inserted in the repository. This way local metadata that was refreshed recently (within reason) will always have corresponding packages to work against, even if some packages (and the metadata) have been updated in the repository since the metadata was refreshed locally. In my opinion, a zypper transaction should never fail due to newer packages in the repository, if the metadata was recently refreshed locally. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
