This should be addressed with the next kernel update.

Did the required fix ever appear in a Tumbleweed snapshot?

No - it is part of kernel 4.14. Snapshot 1118 was the first one to be tested to contain this kernel / fix, but it was not released (some issues with nfs_client identified on kubic); 1119 only got other new fixes, but nothing addressing the nfs_client issues identified in 1118, and for this reason also won't see the day of light as a TW Snapshot. Furthermore, Robby has found more issues with Intel Wifi in the 1119 snapshot - I'm hoping to address those with the relevant parties on Monday. cheers Dominique
