Factory and bugzilla
Hiya all... I see quite some entries in bugzilla about "resolved" and "commited", but I haven't seen any updates in the factory distribution directories yet. What's the "normal" lead-time from commited fix until it's available for download? Or, are the fixes not posted for public download? -- Anders Norrbring Norrbring Consulting

24-48 hours after checkin - but currently factory is not synced out due to a bug that has just been fixed.
Or, are the fixes not posted for public download?
They should... Andreas -- Andreas Jaeger, aj@suse.de, http://www.suse.de/~aj/ SUSE Linux Products GmbH, Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GPG fingerprint = 93A3 365E CE47 B889 DF7F FED1 389A 563C C272 A126

ftp.opensuse.org - and gwdg is an excellent mirror, Andreas -- Andreas Jaeger, aj@suse.de, http://www.suse.de/~aj/ SUSE Linux Products GmbH, Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GPG fingerprint = 93A3 365E CE47 B889 DF7F FED1 389A 563C C272 A126

Yes, but http://ftp.opensuse.org/pub/opensuse/distribution/SL-OSS-factory works much better. At the moment I use rsync to update my tree from gwdg. -- Andreas Klein Andreas.C.Klein@physik.uni-wuerzburg.de

That's bad - people should use http://download.opensuse.org and they will be redirected to a high bandwith mirror ;-) Andreas -- Andreas Jaeger, aj@suse.de, http://www.suse.de/~aj/ SUSE Linux Products GmbH, Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GPG fingerprint = 93A3 365E CE47 B889 DF7F FED1 389A 563C C272 A126

On what basis is the redirection done? Some mirrors are not complete. Is there any checking on this? houghi -- 2180, U.S. History question: What 20th Century U.S. President was almost impeached and what office did he later hold?

We do something like an ls -lR on the mirrors and check that the files are there - and only redirect to mirrors that have the files last time we checked... So, you should really get redirected to a mirror that has the files, Andreas -- Andreas Jaeger, aj@suse.de, http://www.suse.de/~aj/ SUSE Linux Products GmbH, Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GPG fingerprint = 93A3 365E CE47 B889 DF7F FED1 389A 563C C272 A126

OK. I hope to get some more info on this at FOSDEM. I was thinking about a xml page with ALL mirrors and repositories. (Not hosted on openSUSE due to legal reasons) and I hate to do work twice, that is the real reason I like OSS. ;-) houghi -- Lewis's Law of Travel: The first piece of luggage out of the chute doesn't belong to anyone, ever.

ftp.gwdg.de is in sync. You can use ftp://ftp4.gwdg.de/private/beta/SL-OSS-factory/ too. It is a snapshot from last weekend (to reflect the beta1 state), but factory still has nothing new since then. Cheers -e -- Eberhard Moenkeberg (emoenke@gwdg.de, em@kki.org)
