I've just had a go of installing the 12.1 beta from the KDE Live CD version using a USB stick. The hardware is an Acer Aspire 1551 netbook and I'm installing on to a USB hard drive so as not to disturb the 11.4 installation and Windows on the netbook's hard drive. Here are my questions/problems encountered: 1) I selected English UK at the first install screen. At the installation summary screen I clicked 'Languages' to add German as a secondary language. I was surprised to find that English (US) was already selected as a secondary language and that English (UK) doesn't appear in Secondary Languages, only in the Primary Language selection drop-down. From memory both of these are different to the 11.4 installer and I think a bit inconsistent. 2) The firewall and ssh settings no longer appear in the installation summary screen, is this intentional? 3) Last but definitely not least the system didn't reboot after the initial installation. I selected disable boot of MBR and enable boot from /boot in the Installation Summary screen. It got through all the package installation and prompted me to remove the 'Live CD' (actually USB stick) and reboot, but nothing, no grub menu. The netbook boots fine off the USB stick and of course off the 11.4 install on its hard drive. I mounted the USB hard drive that contains the 12.1 beta install on another machine and all the partitions are there, including what I expect to see in /boot.
