[opensuse-factory] A KDE patch just went upstream that I hope gets in 11.4
All, I'm not on the opensuse-kde list, but I just saw the dolphin bug that causes it to crash when previewing a PPT file get marked resolved. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=249876 See the last few entries. I consider this a major bug and I really hope that the fix can be backported to 11.4 (and even 11.3) Thanks Greg -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Greg you are around long enough to know this is better handled in a proper bugreport. Also I already wrote Peter about his opinion to backport it to 4.6 and he considers it too invasive for the stable branch, we'll have to live with it I fear, feel free to make a bugreport and get people to vote for it though, I'd prefer a small strigi fix though. Well, I was one of the thousands that filed a bugzilla upstream with KDE. That's why I knew about the fix. I'm amazed it's not already in the Novell bugzilla, but I don't see it there.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=675445 Everyone please vote. This bug is extremely annoying to the end-users and has been around for what seems like a couple years now.
Cheers, Karsten

It does for me. I just logged out of bugzilla and verified it is public. I guess there is a delay. Greg -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

There were novell bugentries, maybe about a different file format, the sudden 64k limit shows that strigi just fails at input checking for alot of files so most people see this in a different place but it boils down to the same problem.

It hasn't. KFileMetaInfo using libstrigi is a fresh decision, which is more hurt by a recent imposed file size truncation to 64k that makes strigi stumble and crash. Let me warn you that you don't need to convince me but others to ship this, upstream not pushing this into their stable branch certainly doesn't help your case.
