Hi Alexandre,
Is there anyone else with problems running i915 on Factory? Im facing sort of the faults:
I had/have the same issues. At this moment I am having some kind of working system again, but I notice that I am still having the following issues (I am using KDE) : 1) KDM menu's causes a crash of the Xserver. It is already enough just to click on the Menu or Session area's to cause the crash. 2) If I am using Konsole, Gnome-terminal, then when I close their window (either by clicking on the X, or chosing quit from the menu), the X server also crash with a similar crash as you indicated. I am running with a Lenova T410 (i5) with an Arrandale Graphics controller which uses the intel video driver (i915). I have tried all kind of things already, including utilizing the packages from Xorg:X11, switching of Desktop Effects, resetting plasma, etc, but nothing helped. I am now using Qt Terminal or Aterm which at least gives me a working console and GDM as login manager. It is the same symptoms for me, Raymond.

I have just created a bug (https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=750309) for this one. As that Xserver is crashing I have put the Severity on Critical. I solved my crashes/lockups on a T520 by following the recent kernel-vanilla changes. It has been a month since my last lockup. I am running 3.2.4-1-vanilla . What kernel is in Factory? Same here using the head standard kernel which is at 3.3 rc5. I switched to the factory kernel which is 3.2.0 and closing a window crashed X no crashes with the 3.3 kernels I have been testing -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

I should have been clear, I have only the Intel integrated graphics. Jeffrey -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

This crash stack looks a lot like what I've seen recently on my Intel SandyBridge system before I switched KDE compositing from XRender to OpenGL. I was surprised that GL seems to actually make things _more_ stable nowadays, but since I switched this, those crashes have gone away. Maybe most of the crashes where fixed with the 3.3-rc5 kernel, but I have been using the kernel from HEAD along. I got the crashes when running the 3.3-rc4 kernel, but now that I am running the 3.3-rc5 kernel, I am still seeing the issues with konsole, gnome-terminal, etc. So for me the kernel might have solved some issues, but definitely not all. I'm running OpenSUSE 12.2 M2 with a i915 as well. I solved this issue by creating /usr/lib/dri/ and linking it to /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/ -- View this message in context: http://opensuse.14.n6.nabble.com/i915-Intel-GM45-problem-on-Factory-tp454316... Can you please do the same on the other 500 openSUSE Factory installations? This doesn't sound like the clean solution to this issue. Please either file a bug report or merge the fix to openSUSE Factory. Cheers, Lars -- Lars Müller [ˈlaː(r)z ˈmʏlɐ] Samba Team SUSE Linux, Maxfeldstraße 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany
