[opensuse-factory] Checking Release Notes

Approaching the release date it would be good if more eyes would take a look at the release notes and provide feedback. Find the sources of the release notes in the berlios SVN: https://svn.berlios.de/svnroot/repos/opensuse/trunk/documentation/release-no... I'd prefer patches against the XML file, but general feedback based on the HTML or YaST output format is also fine. We especially must make sure to eliminate all CHECKIT remarks ;) I added most of these CHECKIT remarks to old systemd related entries that I took over from the 12.1 document. aTdHvAaNnKcSe! -- Karl Eichwalder SUSE LINUX Products GmbH R&D / Documentation Maxfeldstraße 5 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GF: Jeff Hawn, Jennifer Guild, Felix Imendörffer, HRB 16746 (AG Nürnberg) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

AFAICT the systemd items are still valid. They are not new compared to 12.1 though. Since many people will upgrade from 11.4 they are still good to have anyways IMO.

Kind of off topic here I guess but have you considered using a wiki article as master copy of the release notes? It would make contributing to them much easier I suppose. cu Ludwig -- (o_ Ludwig Nussel //\ V_/_ http://www.suse.de/ SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, GF: Jeff Hawn, Jennifer Guild, Felix Imendörffer, HRB 16746 (AG Nürnberg) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Ok, thanks for checking. I'll remove the markers.
I wouldn't mind giving it a try. But I'm not sure about the actual process. I think it would be ok to use the wiki as an input source in parallel to bugzilla; from there I'd probably move the snippets into the traditional xml release notes document. Editing a multi-page document in the wiki is often rather cumbersome. I'd accept the pain, if the help by all of you would pay the bill. OTOH, the idea for next-generation release notes was, to generate them from fate entries (features.opensuse.org). -- Karl Eichwalder SUSE LINUX Products GmbH R&D / Documentation Maxfeldstraße 5 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GF: Jeff Hawn, Jennifer Guild, Felix Imendörffer, HRB 16746 (AG Nürnberg) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

FYI, I just submitted pre-12.3 release notes to Factory.
This is valid again. Please help with updating the entries marked with "CHECKIT". -- Karl Eichwalder SUSE LINUX Products GmbH R&D / Documentation Maxfeldstraße 5 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GF: Jeff Hawn, Jennifer Guild, Felix Imendörffer, HRB 16746 (AG Nürnberg) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
