Pipewire and RLIMITS configuration (missing a pipewire system group)
The recent pipewire update to 0.3.66 includes a PAM config file to grant the user rt privileges. in order for this to work, also a system group "pipewire" has to be created and the user added to it. As a contributor and user of the GeekosDAW project (an effort to bring low latency / pro audio to openSUSE) I have the feeling that this should be handled in the pipewire package at postinstall, similar to what the Debian package does since version 0.3.58. The pipewire Wiki documents RLIMITS config in https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pipewire/pipewire/-/wikis/Performance-tuning#... We observed a while ago that this is also missing / not working in openSUSE, pipewire falls back to using RTKit but polkit doesn't grant it the needed privileges in the end. Here's the detailed issue report and how it got resolved for Debian, with some clarification regarding the benefits of using RLIMITS approach vs. RTKit: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pipewire/wireplumber/-/issues/255 Thanks,
