Hi everyone! When Tumbleweed first replaced lastlog with lastlog2, lastlog still existed as a symlink to lastlog2. Which made it possible for programs to keep calling lastlog like nothing was changed. Now it seems that the symlink is no longer set. Is this intentional? And if yes, is there a good reason for not having lastlog as a symlink to lastlog2? Best regards, Miika

The standalone lastlog2 implementation got merged in util-linux, looks like that does not provide the compat symlink. -- Thorsten Kukuk, Distinguished Engineer, Senior Architect, Future Technologies SUSE Software Solutions Germany GmbH, Frankenstraße 146, 90461 Nuernberg, Germany Managing Director: Ivo Totev, Andrew McDonald, Werner Knoblich (HRB 36809, AG Nürnberg)

Do you think that is a bug or a feature? Cheers, Miika

lastlog2 is not 100% compatible with lastlog, as lastlog2 solved several problems lastlog had. To make lastlog2 100% compatible we would need to re-introduce the problems of lastlog, and we clearly don't want that. Since I already got several bug reports about "not 100% compatible", I don't see the missing symlink as a bug but something, which reduces my workload. -- Thorsten Kukuk, Distinguished Engineer, Senior Architect, Future Technologies SUSE Software Solutions Germany GmbH, Frankenstraße 146, 90461 Nuernberg, Germany Managing Director: Ivo Totev, Andrew McDonald, Werner Knoblich (HRB 36809, AG Nürnberg)

I see. That makes sense. Thanks! :) Best, Miika
