[opensuse-factory] libdb-6.0
The current version of Berkeley DB in openSUSE is 4.8, which looks somewhat old, given that Oracle has released a 5.x and in fact has already arrived at 6.0. There are only very few API changes that need patches (in other packages). I have already submitted some. Current state is in home:jengelh:db6. The plan is to submit libdb-6_0 quite soon. As for objections or comments, do speak up. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

What about compatibility with version RPM is using? In the past BDB utilities were part of RPM, now they are no more. Sometimes they are useful as the last resort to recover RPM database. Hmm ... apparently RPM brings own BDB ... in which case it probably should install utilities as well. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

The SUSE (and now) openSUSE "rpm" source package has, to the best of my knowledge, always bundled a copy of bdb (and beecrypt, fwiw). It was Fedora which completely separates these components out. According to the BDB changelogs, the database format has not changed, only the log format - but the latter changes every so often anyway that it is already expected, IIRC. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Yeah, that's a bug in our rpm package. It should install the utilities (prefixed with rpm) under a into /usr/lib/rpm (like it used to do in the past). If you can open a SR that would be even better ;-) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Could you guys please calm down a bit, rpm-4.11.1 isn't even released yet. We're at RC1. ;) Cheers, Michael. -- Michael Schroeder mls@suse.de SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, GF Jeff Hawn, HRB 16746 AG Nuernberg main(_){while(_=~getchar())putchar(~_-1/(~(_|32)/13*2-11)*13);} -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
