The current git-cvs in Tumbleweed is requiring cvsps (which is v3.8), but should it not instead require cvsps2 like the last build? --8<---------------cut here---------------start------------->8--- Problem: git-cvs-1.8.2.2-8.1.i586 requires cvsps, but this requirement cannot be provided uninstallable providers: cvsps-3.8-2.1.1.i586[openSUSE-current-OSS] Solution 1: Following actions will be done: keep obsolete git-cvs-1.8.2.1-4.1.i586 keep obsolete git-core-1.8.2.1-4.1.i586 keep obsolete gitk-1.8.2.1-4.1.i586 keep obsolete git-web-1.8.2.1-4.1.i586 keep obsolete git-svn-1.8.2.1-4.1.i586 keep obsolete git-gui-1.8.2.1-4.1.i586 keep obsolete git-email-1.8.2.1-4.1.i586 keep obsolete git-1.8.2.1-4.1.i586 Solution 2: deinstallation of cvsps2-2.1-2.1.i586 Solution 3: break git-cvs-1.8.2.2-8.1.i586 by ignoring some of its dependencies --8<---------------cut here---------------end--------------->8--- Regards, Achim. -- +<[Q+ Matrix-12 WAVE#46+305 Neuron microQkb Andromeda XTk Blofeld]>+ DIY Stuff: http://Synth.Stromeko.net/DIY.html -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

I see that this is per request #174712, but the other side of the request (downgrading cvsps to 2.1) has not been implemented. So for now "breaking git-cvs" by leaving cvsps2 installed is the correct solution. Regards. I don't understand, should I downgrade cvsps2 in tumbleweed to the "old" version in order to fix this up, or do something else? I just don't install git-cvs, as it has been many years since I last needed to convert a cvs tree to git :) thanks, greg k-h -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

I guess you'll have to wait until the request to downgrade cvsps is fully implemented. The cvsps package had been upgraded to 3.8, but git-cvs still depends on 2.x (these are not compatible in any way). As an intermediate step cvsps2 package was created and git-cvs made dependent on that (with conflicts to cvsps), this then went into Tumbleweed. The latest request is to make git-cvs dependent on cvsps again and downgrade cvsps to version 2.1. The first part concerning git-cvs has already been implemented. It's the latter part that doesn't seem to have accepted yet (pending review it seems), but Petr Gajdos should know more: https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/175294 After this request is officially live you should get this automatically into Tumbleweed I suppose.

Well, I'm not so lucky. :-) Regards, Achim. -- +<[Q+ Matrix-12 WAVE#46+305 Neuron microQkb Andromeda XTk Blofeld]>+ Factory and User Sound Singles for Waldorf Blofeld: http://Synth.Stromeko.net/Downloads.html#WaldorfSounds -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
