Dear Factory maintainers, My apologies if you see this twice, it seems my first message got stuck on the way to or at GMANE. SR #137039 submits ghc-rpm-macros from devel:languages:haskell to Factory. The package contains macros to support packaging of Haskell libraries and applications. It is based on Fedora's Haskell packaging guidelines and adapted to openSUSE. More Information can be found at: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/PackagingDrafts/Haskell#RPM_Macros This is the first step to get Haskell into 12.3 (see FATE # 314446, https://features.opensuse.org/314446). I would personally like to see them under <http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Packaging_guidelines#Haskell> with adaptation to openSUSE if necessary, and it should be discussed at opensuse-packaging ML (see <http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-packaging/2012-10/msg00001.html> ) The same should have been the case regarding the rpm macros Nevertheless, it will be nice to have Haskell in Factory Togan -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

I started a new page in the wiki that explains the most basic packaging which worked for me most of the time packaging 100+ Haskell libraries: http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Packaging_Haskell My adaptations were * fixing issues with SLE because their rpm is too old and * following openSUSE packaging guidelines (no version numbers in documentation directories and different names for RPM package groups). I shall add those facts to the wiki page soon.
opensuse-packaging ML (see <http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-packaging/2012-10/msg00001.html> )
The same should have been the case regarding the rpm macros Well, the macros are to help packagers and Jens Petersen of Redhat, who is the author, took over maintainership of upstream Hackage project cabal-rpm. Cabal-rpm is a Haskell program to generate spec files using those macros. See: http://hackage.haskell.org/package/cabal-rpm-0.6.4
Anyway, I will bring up the topic in opensuse-packaging. Peter -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
