[opensuse-factory] Akonadi downgrade?
Hi, I was just about to update latest packages for my opensuse 11 beta 1 installation from factory , when yast asked me whether I wanted to downgrade akonadi in order to be able to install kdepim4: #### YaST2 conflicts list - generated 2008-04-28 10:55:43 #### kdepim4-4.0.71-2.i586 requires libakonadiprotocolinternals.so.0, but this requirement cannot be provided uninstallable providers: akonadi-0.80.0-2.i586[opensuse_factory] [ ] Following actions will be done: kdepim4-4.0.71-2.i586 nicht installieren libakonadi4-4.0.71-2.i586 nicht installieren libkdepim4-4.0.71-2.i586 nicht installieren kde4-akregator-4.0.71-2.i586 nicht installieren kde4-kaddressbook-4.0.71-2.i586 nicht installieren kde4-kmail-4.0.71-2.i586 nicht installieren kde4-knode-4.0.71-2.i586 nicht installieren kde4-knotes-4.0.71-2.i586 nicht installieren kde4-kontact-4.0.71-2.i586 nicht installieren kde4-korganizer-4.0.71-2.i586 nicht installieren libkdepimlibs4-4.0.71-2.i586 nicht installieren kdepimlibs4-4.0.71-2.i586 nicht installieren kdebase4-runtime-4.0.3-12.i586 nicht installieren [ ] downgrade of akonadi-4.0.69-12.i586 to akonadi-0.80.0-2.i586 That all looks a little odd to me. Sounds like I better wait a bit more before updating, until things have been sorted out in factory? How do you update? If you update "all packages to newer version", then the solver is right. you need to downgrade akonadi. If you update with zypper dup, it would have done it automatically as it uses always the version in the repository. There is a problem with this. You update (either with zypper dup or yast), you get the information that you need to downgrade it. If you run it again, you get the information that The following packages are going to be downgraded: libkdepimlibs4 libkdepim4 libakonadi4 kdepimlibs4 kdepim4 kdebase4-runtime kde4-korganizer kde4-kontact kde4-knotes kde4-kmail kde4-kaddressbook kde4-akregator because it wants to install akonadi-4.0.69 instead of 0.80. And if you do, and run again, you get the first message about akonadi downgrade. And so on. :) Andras -- Quanta Plus developer - http://quanta.kdewebdev.org K Desktop Environment - http://www.kde.org --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

You're having two conflicting repositories then. Use zypper dup -r <factory alias> Greetings, Stephan --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Ok, that works. I had the following: # | Alias | Name | Enabled | Refresh --+---------------------------------------------------------------------------------+---------------------------------------+---------+-------- 1 | http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/SL-Factory-non-oss/inst-source-ext... | Main Repository (NON-OSS) | Yes | Yes 2 | Packman-RPMs | Packman-RPMs | Yes | Yes 3 | openSUSE-DVD_11.0 | openSUSE-DVD 11.0 | Yes | No 4 | openSUSE-DVD 11.0 | openSUSE-DVD 11.0 | No | No 5 | http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Community/openSUSE_Factory/ | openSUSE BuildService - KDE:Community | No | Yes 6 | http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/SL-OSS-factory/inst-source/ | Main Repository (OSS) | Yes | Yes The only conflicting could be the KDE:/Community, but it is disabled. Well, the 11.0 DVD is most likely beta1? Greetings, stephan --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Thanks for your answer. Is "zypper dup" what is being run by the updater applet? Or how do I run it so I won't be confused in the future again? ;) Yes, I did "all packages to newer version" from yast. Stephan Kulow schrieb:

No, 'zypper dup' uses distribution upgrade algorithm that enables support for package renames, splits, architecture changes etc. The updater applet is using strictier algorithm to avoid problems during update (you typically do not want to change your system, but fix bugs). try forcefully installing akonadi-runtime. I've renamed akonadi to akonadi-runtime to workaround the version downgrade issue. unfortunately the factory tree is a bit behind so it might take a bit until the package is available, but in my testings this has fixed the upgrade issues on 10.3 with KDE4 repos and factory.
