[opensuse-factory] tla package is way outdated
Hey. It has come to my attention that the version of tla being shipped
with openSuSE 10.2 and -factory is the same. Not only that, both are the
same as the version that shipped with SuSE 10.0 - a shameful state of
affairs.
tla-1.3.3 is long deprecated, there is NO reason it should continue to be
packaged with current distributions. I propose that OpenSuSE packages
tla-1.3.5, which has been stable for quite some time.
On tla related issues, would anyone like to binary package SXEmacs
(http://www.sxemacs.org/) for OpenSuSE? (no, I'm not asking as an SXEmacs
representative. it's just an idea.)

In such case (finding an outdated package), please just open an Enhancement bugreport in bugzilla.

Looks definitely suited for the openSUSE buildservice. :) Ciao, Marcus --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

I can't! I don't have a bugzilla account and nor can I create one! tla has almost NO deps (in fact it only needs libc as i recall) and it could VERY simply be packaged by a person who knew how RPM worked.

I meant to be included in the default distribution, maybe someday even replacing XEmacs (the site has a list of things about SXE that are better than XE and I could probably tell you more) If people don't KNOW they have a choice, they won't EXERCISE their right to MAKE the choice. Surely you understand.
Ciao, Marcus

Why can you not create a bugzilla account? Andreas -- Andreas Jaeger, aj@suse.de, http://www.suse.de/~aj/ SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, GF: Markus Rex, HRB 16746 (AG Nürnberg) Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GPG fingerprint = 93A3 365E CE47 B889 DF7F FED1 389A 563C C272 A126

Why can you not create a bugzilla account?
Because my browser is buggy as ****, and Novell's site won't let me create
an account for some deity-beknown reason.
I don't see why you had to CC your colleague Herr Meissner...
I took the liberty of assuming he reads the lists regularly.
While we're on the topic of outdated packages, why am I still using PINE
4.63 that is up to its 50th odd packaging? 4.64 has been out for ages too.

I have forwarded the tla update info to the maintainer. Ciao, Marcus --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
